756!

For those of you that have taken a vacation to somewhere out past Mars and have not heard that we have a new home run record in Major League Baseball, I thought I would post a clip of it so that you too can feel more a part of this earth.

Also, I am curious as to what all your opinions are of Bonds breaking Hank Aaron's record. I have my own personal beliefs that differ from the majority of MLB fans, but I will share those details if I get some of your opinions. So here it is in all its glory!

heath, we are just north east of fort worth... how are you liking tx? we LOVE it!!! we love the people too!!!

ok, so as far as the whole bonds thing, my hub and i had this discussion earlier today - mlb is between a rock and a hard place. it is tainted - he used drugs! so, if they let him 'keep' his record, fans will be mad, if they dont let him keep it, fans will be mad...
personally, i dont think he deserves credit. i am ready for someone to break the records with honesty and integrity? sadly, that wont happen.

Emily, I agree that this won't happen. I can think of very few people in MLB that have a shot at breaking this record, A-Rod is the first to come to mind, and who knows what kind of "performance enhancing drugs" he has taken. While it might not be steroids per se, is it then all of a sudden okay for someone to break a record using artificial means to peak their performance? Hank Aaron supposedly didn't have any of that so his record was pure right? I personally think we could have this same discussion for every record that is broken from here on out because the fact of the matter is, is that MLB is infested and it's hard to say who is clean and who isn't!
By the way, we are really enjoying Texas. I am going to be coming up to Dallas, actually Grapevine, next weekend for a dental meeting. I won't have a car as I am catching a ride with some friends, but if you live anywhere close to that it would be fun to meet your family and catch up a little!

Okay, I'm not sure if I'm going to make any sense because I'm not really sure what I think about it. To be honest with you I hadn't seen the HR. I'm not really into baseball. I just watch because I have to. And I do know about the whole drug thing because we lived through it. But to me, who cares if he used drugs. He will forever know and it will always be Barry Bonds beat the record BUT . . . not really. I don't think anyone really believes that he is as great as Hank Aaron was.

The other thing is athletes are always improving. I'm sure you studied this in some of your sport history classes. We did. There will always be some new scientific breakthrough that will take the human body to a higher level. One of the more natural ones is weight lifting. Athletes didn't train with weights when baseball started probably not even when Hank Aaron set the record which makes it even that much more impressive. Steroids have been around awhile but who know what will come in the next 10 or 20 years. The pressure is on these guys to perform and he did. I'm sure he would have rather not taken them. His name will go down in the record books but everytime someone mentions it, they will also bring up the controversy that went along with it. He knows what he did.

Ondria, I agree that things are always coming out that are taking the human body to new levels. And it is exactly for that reason that it bothers me that Bonds gets such a bad rap. In my opinion, if someone is going to say, "Yea Bonds broke the record, but..." then every record that is broken from here on out in any sport should have the same qualifier because athletes simply have more substances and better training programs that make them better today than athletes of old. So either put the stipulation on every record that is broken, or get of Bond's back. My opinion!
